Updated: Sep 17, 2021

Dr. Rebecca Anna Breed (1853-1952) was born in Steubenville, Ohio on October 19, to William Pratt and Rebecca Breed. Her father William was a graduate at New York University with a Doctor of Divinity, and became a pastor and author of many books, including Presbyterianism 300 Years Ago and Presbyterians and the Revolution.

Fun Fact #1: Her father became the first pastor of the West Spruce Street Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia in 1856 since the daughter church merged with the Tenth Presbyterian Church, and remained there for the rest of his life.

She wrote an article about ovarian cyst, and was read before the Alumna Medical Society in Philadelphia on January 12, 1895. Read below!

On December 9, 1893, Rebecca also wrote a piece on pneumonia that was read before the Alumna Medical Society.

She retired in 1902, and resided in Centre Square afterwards. She also owned a home in Lawrenceville, New Jersey.
